One of the gifts that have been given to each of us is health. It is a gift given when you gave your first breath and will be taken away when you take your last. What most people don’t realize is that our bodies have a time clock and the little decisions we make will determine our health status and longevity. After suffering quite the injury in my running in 2021. I have had to make some lifestyle choices.

I adapted my diet. By eating unhealthy and not shaking off the extra kilos before exercising, I ended up putting unnecessary weight strain on a lot of my unused muscles. I eat as many whole foods and non-processed foods. In my opinion, simple carbs are bad, complex carbs are good. When at a restaurant I ask for the salad rather than chips

I’ve diversified my exercise program. Performing a single exercise routine means that not all my muscles might get activated.Cross-training/ doing more spinning exercises I have turned this around. I spend time in the non-cardio area of the gym on alternate days. This helps me rest from the intenseness of having my feet hit the tar each day

I measure because to measure is to know. Each morning I keep to the discipline of weighing myself at more or less the same time. The mornings are better for me since my weight fluctuates according to what I drink and eat during the day. I also use a fitness tracker to check my sleep and workout intensity.

I make a point of it to exercise with a buddy at least once a week Exercising with someone keeps me motivated and talking whilst running keeps the focus of the intenseness of my body bemoaning what I’m about to do. Socializing whilst attending or doing sport is also just outright fun!

In short, during the past two years, I’ve developed a positive attitude towards exercise in general. I don’t want to measure against any person or advertisement except myself. Competition is often the greatest thief of my joy. I frequently remind myself that my body is unique and it has its rhythm which I need to figure out for myself. Super harsh exercising, without moderation, has only caused me a failure. I would rather dream big and build small each day.
